Meet your instructor!

Hi, I’m Michelle Wyeth, the founder and lead instructor at Rainbow Aquatics & Training.

As a certified American Red Cross Instructor Trainer and a professional Physical Education and Swimming teacher, I design my classes to be small, practical, and highly engaging. My focus is on building genuine confidence rather than just checking a compliance box. Whether you are a coach fulfilling PSAL or New York State requirements, or someone who simply wants to be prepared for an emergency, you will leave my course equipped with the exact skills and knowledge you need to save a life.

Why Choose Us

Small Class Sizes

With a max of 10 students per class, you get real hands-on practice — not just a seat in a crowded room.

Flexible Online

Built for Coaches, Open to Everyone

Designed with PSAL and NYS coaching requirements in mind, and just as valuable for schools, parents, and corporate groups.

Questions? FAQ

Is this really an American Red Cross certification?

Yes. Rainbow Aquatics & Training is a Licensed Training Provider for the American Red Cross. After you complete both the online and in-person training, you will receive an official American Red Cross digital certificate by email (see question 10 for timing).

American Red Cross classes are for anyone who wants to learn and stay proficient in First Aid, CPR and AED. The Adult & Pediatric First Aid/CPR/AED course also meets the requirement to coach within the PSAL and New York State.

Yes. Our American Red Cross Adult & Pediatric First Aid/CPR/AED course is on the Approved List of required certification courses for coaching within the PSAL and New York State. Completing it satisfies both the CPR/AED and First Aid requirements, and you will not need to take another in-person class for 2 years.

Blended learning (also called hybrid or mixed-mode learning) combines online coursework with face-to-face instruction:

  • Online: videos, digital modules and interactive tools you complete at your own pace and in your own location.
  • In person: hands-on practice, discussion and guided instruction with your instructor.

For Adult & Pediatric First Aid/CPR/AED, expect about 4 hours for the online portion and about 2.5 hours of in-person training. After both, you will have all the knowledge you need to demonstrate competency.

After signing up for a class, you will receive an email from Salesforce Automation with instructions on how to get to the online portion. Check your spam if you cannot find it.

You must also pass an in-person written final exam with a score of at least 80%. If you do not reach 80% on your first attempt, you may take the exam a second time. If you do not pass on the second attempt, you will need to repeat both the online and in-person sessions to be certified.

Accommodations and modifications

If you need testing modifications, an IEP accommodation or any other learning adjustment, we are happy to work with you. Please notify us in writing before your in-person session at michelle@rainbowaquaticsandtraining.com. Without advance written notice, we cannot provide the accommodation. You would then need to reschedule and repeat all online portions before the new date, under the same terms as any rescheduled course.

Yes, it is required. Finish it at least 24 hours before class and bring proof of completion. When you finish, the American Red Cross emails you a completion notice. Save that email to your phone and show it to your instructor when you arrive. Without it, you cannot take part in the in-person session.

If you have trouble with the online course, email michelle@rainbowaquaticsandtraining.com, or contact American Red Cross support and then let us know at the same address.

Important: if the online portion is not completed at least 24 hours before the in-person session, you will be unenrolled and will have to complete the entire online portion again. You can sign up for another class within 3 months. Email michelle@rainbowaquaticsandtraining.com for your options.

Classes are limited to 10 people, so you get real hands-on practice and personal feedback. We are always looking for more locations. Classes are currently held at:

  • Erasmus Hall High School, 911 Flatbush Avenue, Brooklyn, NY 11226
  • Springfield Gardens High School, 14310 Springfield Blvd, Springfield Gardens, NY 11413

Parking

  • Erasmus Hall: Street parking only. Parking on Flatbush Avenue and surrounding blocks can be metered; Bedford Avenue and the blocks immediately around it are not metered. It is your responsibility to read the street signs and park legally.
  • Springfield Gardens: Street parking is available and is not metered.

Arrival

At Erasmus Hall, please enter the building on Flatbush Avenue. Arrive no later than 20 minutes before the class start time, because classes start on time.

Choose a date on our booking page and pay online. Your seat is confirmed once payment is complete, and you will receive a confirmation email.

Teams and organizations can book multiple seats, but each person needs their own name and a separate email address so their certificate goes to the right place. If you are interested in a group class, email michelle@rainbowaquaticsandtraining.com for more information.

We know things come up unexpectedly. To reschedule, you need to:

  1. Contact michelle@rainbowaquaticsandtraining.com at within 72 hours of the start date of the class. The online portion will need to be completed again. Failure to contact us 72 hours before the start will incur a rescheduling fee of $45 charged by the American Red Cross to re-enroll in the class.
  2. Pick another date or course you would like to take.

Rainbow Aquatics & Training will do our best to accommodate you, and you will have 60 days to find a new booking date. After 60 days, unfortunately, your money cannot be returned.

No-shows, and anyone who does not contact us at least 24 hours before the course start, forfeit their entire booking fee.

Bring your proof of online completion. Wear comfortable clothing, since you will kneel and practice chest compressions on manikins.

  • You will learn something new on class day, and you must take an active part. You will not be permitted to sit back and watch.
  • Electronic devices are not permitted in class.
  • The instructor may remove any participant who does not follow our policies.
  • Late students cannot be admitted. They will not be able to complete the course and cannot be given a refund, so please plan accordingly.

The American Red Cross emails your certificate, usually within 24 hours of finishing class. Please check that your name and email address are correct before you leave, since we use them exactly as written. If you have not received it within 2 business days, contact us at michelle@rainbowaquaticsandtraining.com.

Your certification is valid for 2 years.
